Ellen Noel Art Museum schedule

A number of events are coming up and currently going on at the Ellen Noel Art Museum.

One of the things currently happening is the Annual ECISD Student Art Exhibition from March 30-April 28.

Both the high school and middle school shows will have their art work on display.

The High School schedule is from March 30-April 14 with its reception scheduled for 6:30 p.m. April 14.

The middle school is scheduled to run from April 21-28. The middle school reception will take place at 6:30 p.m. April 28.

The Water Works exhibit, which is on loan from artists, is currently running until April 24.

This exhibition explores how different artists interpret the theme of how water is vital, spiritual and restorative and helps connect everyone.

The show helps people remember, imagine and even embody the importance of water to life on Earth and in communities.

The impetus for this exhibition, in collaboration with the University of Texas Permian Basin’s Nancy Fyfe Cardozier Gallery and the Ellen Noel Art Museum came from community members focusing on water issues in the Permian Basin. Together, they have put a national call out to artists to submit their work regarding the topic of water. Selected work is displayed at both the Cardozier Gallery and the Ellen Noel Art Museum’s Nelda Lee Gallery.

UTPB is also hosting the exhibition WaterWays on loan from the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street Program.

Also currently on display at the Ellen Noel Art Museum is Ave Maria: The Many Visions of the Madonna.

The exhibit is on display until Aug. 14.

Since the earliest days of the church, artists and sculptors have been creating paintings, frescoes, mosaics, statues and sculptures of the Madonna/Virgin Mary in all her various forms.

The exhibition showcases how the Madonna has changed throughout time and its importance to iconography.

The event, for preschoolers age 3-5, will be at 10 a.m. and includes story-time and art activity.
