WICHITA FALLS The UTPB women’s cross country team finished fifth overall with 160 points at the Mustang Derby Thursday at Midwestern State.
The hosts ended up securing the top five spots to finish with 15 points and win the meet title, scoring 51 points ahead of second place Dallas Baptist.
Oklahoma City University finished third as a team with 98 points while Southeastern Oklahoma took fourth with 101 points.
The Falcons were led by Alauna Stackhouse who ran the 4-kilometer course in a time of 16 minutes and 39.60 seconds to place 22nd as an individual.
UTPB’s Miranda Hernandez was 33rd with a time of 17:52.90, followed by her teammates Kayla Cepeda at 34th in 18:37.60, Yanitza Olivares at 35th in 18:59.50 and Odalis Lujan at 36th in 21:35.
The Falcons will next run at the Texas Tech Open Sept. 15 in Lubbock.
