GOODWELL, OKLA. The UTPB women’s soccer team got offensive early and posted a 5-0 shutout of Oklahoma Panhandle University, earning Falcons coach Lynsey Winkler her first victory with the program.
Alexandra Sanchez scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 12th minute, with Yarely Orona finding the net with back-to-back shots in the 29th and 30th minutes for a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Tyeliyah Jones extended the Falcons lead in the 42nd minute, with Yareli Barrera capping the scoring with a goal in the 58th minute.
UTPB opens Lone Star Conference play against West Texas A&M at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Falcon Field.
