LAREDO The UTPB women’s basketball team lost its Lone Star Conference opener in an 84-78 loss to undefeated Texas A&M International Thursday on the road.
The Falcons fell to 4-2 overall, 0-1 in conference while the Dust Devils moved to 8-0, 1-0.
TAMIU built an 18-10 lead in the first quarter and then led 38-23 at the half.
UTPB battled back in the second half but it wasn’t enough.
The Falcons will next face Texas A&M-Kingsville at 1 p.m. Saturday in Kingsville.
