BUDAPEST, HUNGARY Midland native Bryce Hoppel clinched a spot in the 800-meter final at the track and field World Championships Thursday.
The Midland High graduate who ran at the University of Kansas, placed third in his semifinal heat, running a time of one-minute and 44.4 seconds which was enough for him to qualify for the finals.
Hoppel will compete in the finals at 1:30 p.m. Saturday for a chance at a world title.
