PARIS Midland native Bryce Hoppel will be running for gold after advancing to the finals in the 800-meter run in the 2024 Summer Olympics Friday at Stade de France.
Hoppel advanced out of the semifinals after finishing second in his heat with a time of one minute and 43.41 seconds.
Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyonyi took first in the heat with a time of 1:43.32.
Hoppel finished ahead of Great Britain’s Max Burgin who took third in 1:43.50.
All three runners will compete in the finals.
The finals will take place at 12:05 p.m. Saturday.
