The Odessa Jackalopes made seven selections Wednesday in the annual North American Hockey League draft.
Defenseman Jackson Hay of Kingston, Ontario was the team’s initial choice, with the 12th pick in the first round, quickly followed by Dean Noonan of Chandler, Ariz., another defenseman, with the 18th pick of the first round.
Odessa received that pick as part of a trade with the Minnesota Wilderness.
The Jackalopes moved to the attacking zone with their next five picks: forward Kade Smigaj of Stevens Point, Wis., center Michael Kadlecik of Lansing, N.Y., left wing Charlie Emme of Glenview, Ill., forward Logan Nagle of Post Falls, Idaho and forward Jack Herron of Lake in the Hills, Ill.
Herron played for the Texas Roadrunners last season, Odessa’s NA3HL affiliate in College Station. He scored 42 points (21 goals, 21 assists) in 39 regular-season games and added seven points (5-2) in five playoff games.
