MIDLAND The Midland RockHounds had a tough afternoon after being swept in both games of a doubleheader against the Wichita Wind Surge Sunday at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
Midland was shut out 3-0 in the first game before falling 10-4 in the second game.
The doubleheader came about after Saturday’s game was postponed due to weather.
All three runs from Wichita in the first game came from solo home runs by Wilbis Santiago, Aaron Whitefield and Andrew Bechtold, respectively.
Midland was held to just five hits with only one extra base hit on a leadoff double by Chase Calabuig in the fifth inning.
After the Wind Surge (28-20 overall) took another 3-0 lead into the sixth inning, the RockHounds rallied to tie the game with a three-run sixth inning.
Wichita ultimately pulled away with a seven-run seventh inning and Midland (22-26) was unable to recover.
Nick Allen and Jake Suddleson had two hits each in the second game to lead the RockHounds.
