MIDLAND The Midland RockHounds made home field advantage count in their first home game in nearly two years in a 6-1 victory over the San Antonio Missions Tuesday at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
Tyler Ramirez got things started for the RockHounds (3-4 overall) with a double to right field, bringing in Nick Allen to give the home team a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Allen brought a runner in with a sacrifice fly to extend the advantage to 2-0 in the bottom of the third. Kyle Overstreet had a quick response for the Missions in the next inning, hitting a homer to deep right field to cut the lead to 2-1.
The RockHounds came alive offensively throughout the rest of the contest, scoring four unanswered runs to seal the win.
Allen went 3 for 3 and drove in two runs. Midland starting pitcher Brady Fiegl earned the win by striking out five batters in five innings.
Midland will continue its series with San Antonio at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
