AMARILLO The Midland RockHounds held off a late rally by the Amarillo SodPoodles, winning 11-9 Tuesday at Hodgetown in Texas League action.
Playing in the first game of this week’s series, the RockHounds moved to 16-12 overall to remain in first place in the Texas League South Division standings.
Amarillo fell to 13-15.
The RockHounds used a six-run surge in the top of the sixth inning to take a 10-2 lead.
The SodPoodles then closed the gap , reeling off runs in each of the last four innings to pull within two but it wasn’t enough.
Pitcher Trey Supak was credited with the win for the RockHounds while Jamison Hill took the loss on the mound.
Both teams will be back at it in a 7:05 contest on Wednesday.
