SAN ANTONIO The Midland RockHounds got off to a good start but were unable to keep pace as they fell 12-6 to the San Antonio Missions Sunday at Nelson Wolff Stadium.
Midland (18-18) got on the board in the top of the first inning with a two-run home run by Kyle McCann.
San Antonio (20-16) quickly erased that deficit by scoring five runs in the bottom of the second inning and six runs in the third to quickly pull away.
A four-run seventh inning was not enough for the RockHounds to rally as they lost five of six games to the Missions.
Nick Allen led Midland with three hits while Jack Suwinski had a pair of home runs as part of a three-hit day to lead the Missions.
The RockHounds are off Monday before starting a six-game series at Amarillo Tuesday.
