MIDLAND A big second inning was all that the Midland RockHounds needed to keep their winning streak going in a 12-7 victory over the Corpus Christi Hooks Thursday at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
The RockHounds got the offense going by sending 13 batters to the plate as part of a 10-run second inning.
After loading the bases, Devin Foyle got the first run across thanks to an RBI single as part of a three-hit night for the right fielder. That was immediately followed by a two-run double from Chase Calabuig.
The next seven runs all came with two outs starting with Jonah Bride and Logan Davidson drawing consecutive bases-loaded walks and capped off with a two-run home run to left field by Kyle McCann.
Midland (16-11 overall) added two more runs in the third inning with an RBI double by Tyler Ramirez, who scored thanks to a single from Bride. Ramirez reached base safely four times with two doubles and two walks. Eight of the nine Midland batters recorded at least one hit.
Brady Feigl struck out four batters and allowed two earned runs in five innings to get the victory for Midland.
Marty Costes and J.J. Matijevic had two hits each lead to lead Corpus Christi (11-15).
The series continues with the fourth game of a six-game series at 7 p.m. Friday back at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
