LAREDO The UTPB men’s basketball team couldn’t close the gap against Texas A&M International Saturday in its seventh nonconference game.
The Dustdevils held off the Falcons to win 59-58 behind 17 points from Greg Bowie II.
Texas A&M International built up a 34-28 lead in the first half and did enough to stay ahead of UTPB in the second period.
The Falcons outscored the Dustdevils by five points in the second half, including a 9-0 scoring run in the game’s final minutes.
Jordan Horn led UTPB with 16 points on 6-of-15 shooting, with DaJuan Jones and Kendal Frey contributing 11 points each.
The Falcons (4-3 overall) will start a four-game home stretch against St. Edward’s at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Falcon Dome.
