Odessa High, in a back-and-forth affair, was able earn a 12-7 victory against Permian in District 2-6A tennis Tuesday at the Ratliff Tennis Center.
Odessa High’s Nithin Reddy, Hannah Wilson, Valerie Dominquez, Donajy Romero and Nevaeh Eleby each won their singles and doubles matches for the Bronchos.
Reddy dominated his two matches, partnering with Kanishle Yankaria at No. 1 doubles to defeat Athan Sanchez and Cayleb Medina 8-6.
Reddy then cruised to a straight sets win against Sanchez, 6-1, 6-1.
This was the first win against Permian in nine years, according to Odessa High head coach Katelyn Watts.
“I think it is mental toughness,” Watts said “We finally got over the mental slump. And we’ve been preparing and practicing every day.
“It was just grind one point after another. Rather than getting upset after points, we just shook it off and went on to the next one.”
