KEYS TO VICTORY

>> MAKE THE BULLDOGS THROW: Midland High averages less than 40 yards per game through the air. It’s triple-option system resulted in a season-high 111 passing yards in a 42-38 loss to Frenship last week, as the team had thrown for 0, 0 14, 28 and 43 total yards in the Bulldogs’ previous five games. The Bronchos need to make Midland High one-dimensional as it is 0-2 this season when passing more than 10 times in a game.

>> STOP THE RUN: Tonight’s game is the third straight the Bronchos face a run-dominant offense. With the Bulldogs, however, the pass/run split could not be starker as they average nearly 400 rushing yards per game. Midland is 3-1 when rushing at least 50 times per game, but 1-2 when under that amount. The Bronchos’ defense will have to contain the triple-option to have any chance of success tonight.

>> THE MORE PASSING YARDS, THE BETTER: The Bronchos are 3-0 this season when senior quarterback Jaylien Jones and company throw for more than 300 yards, but 0-4 when under that mark. If the Bronchos have success running their no-huddle offense, they will potentially tire their opponents as the game progresses and thus open up more passing lanes for Jones to throw to.
