HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Cota named Player of the Week

Odessa High quarterback Mikey Cota was named the Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week for Class 6A for last week’s performance against El Paso Eastwood.

Cota completed 23 of 32 passes for 426 yards and threw for six touchdowns while also adding a rushing touchdown.

The Bronchos sit at 1-1 for the season and will next face Lubbock Monterey at 7 p.m. Thursday at Ratliff Stadium.

Other winners for the week included Luke Dunham from Class 5A, Jaxxon Marie from Class 4A, Eric Cisneros from Class 3A, DJ Barnes from Class 2A and Sawyer Anderson from the Private School division.
