LUBBOCK The Permian boys basketball team picked up a decisive 73-42 victory over Midland Christian Thursday at the 62nd annual Caprock Classic Tournament.
It was the Panthers’ second straight game winning by a 30-point margin or higher after defeating Wichita Falls Rider 78-48 Wednesday.
Ben Saldivar led the Panthers against Midland Christian with 18 points scored, nine of those coming from beyond the arc.
Permian finished the contest converting 11 3-pointers as a team and had outscored the Mustangs 48-27 by the end of the first half.
The Panthers (13-3 overall, 0-1 District 2-6A) maintained control of the game by putting up 20 points in the third quarter.
With the win, Permian advanced to play Richland at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Lubbock Trinity Christian.
