Permian’s Xavier Melendez and Andrews’ Brock Tijerina will get a chance to showcase their skills with some of the top high school baseball players in the state at the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All Star games.
Melendez was selected for the 5-6A North roster, playing third base along with Frisco Liberty’s Cade McGarrh.
The senior helped the Permian baseball team to a 24-11 overall record, advancing to the bi-district round of the Class 6A playoffs.
Tijerina will compete as a catcher on the 2-4A North roster alongside Celina’s Ty Marthiljohni and New Deal’s Noah Rodriguez.
He helped the Andrews baseball team put up a 21-8 overall record, making it to the area round of the Class 4A playoffs.
The 2-4A game is set to take place at 1 p.m. June 18, while the 5-6A game will happen at 6 p.m. June 19.
Both games will be played at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
