The Permian baseball team closed out its regular season with a 4-2 loss to Wolfforth Frenship in District 2-6A play Friday at McCanlies Field.
Wolfforth Frenship jumped ahead first with an RBI double from Brady Boles in the top of the third, driving in Lawson Peel to take a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers extended their advantage with a 2-run double from Peel in the top of the fourth, giving Nano Mendoza and Kendall Langen a chance to reach home plate.
Permian made it a close game in the bottom of the fifth when it brought in two runs to cut the deficit to 3-2.
First Xavier Melendez drove Caleb Boswell home with an RBI single, then a sacrifice fly from Callan Warren scored Melendez in the frame.
Wolfforth Frenship ultimately pulled away when Landon Hutcheson scored on an error in the top of the seventh, giving the Tigers the series victory over Permian.
The Panthers finished the regular season with a 23-9 overall record and a 12-6 mark in district play, finishing third in the district standings.
Permian will face the second place team from District 1-6A in the bi-district round of the Class 6A playoffs.
