University of Oklahoma golfer Lane Wallace and Brian Garrett of San Antonio earned the two qualifying spots during a U.S. Amateur qualifying tournament Wednesday at Odessa Country Club.
Wallace won the tournament with a 36-hole total of 141 (75-66). Garrett, who plays golf at Davidson College, was one shot back (73-69—142).
Former Western Texas College golfer Jake Leatherwood (75-68—143) and current Abilene Christian golfer Logan Diomede (73-70—143) are the two alternates. Odessa’s Ciro Baeza (73-70—143) tied for third with Leatherwood and Diomede.
The U.S. Amateur is set to take place Aug. 9-15 at Longue Vue Club in Verona, Pa. and Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa.
