Next month, Spectrum Solution’s Fourth Annual Hope-in-One Golf Tournament will be coming back for another round.
The fundraising event is scheduled to take place all day on Aug. 8, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Ranchland Hills Golf Club in Midland.
The tournament didn’t take place in 2020 due to COVID, but has seen growth over the last couple of years.
“I think we’ve had a really steady retention and players and it’s kind of been expanding slowly in the way that we like,” Development Director at Spectrum Alayne Paulson said. “We don’t want it to be oversaturated. We’ve had a great return on players. We’ve had new players join. But it’s all to raise money to help the clients that we serve.”
All proceeds from the tournament will go towards Spectrum of Solutions, formerly MARC.
Since 1959, it has been their mission to provide a spectrum of resources and support to the community and individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
Spectrum of Solutions supports over 300 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities ranging in ages from as young as 2-years-old in the Permian Basin.
“We serve many programs in our community,” Paulson said. “We serve people who might not be able to live on their own or have their own jobs or might need their own full time care. We have 15 residential homes that are clients live in and we also serve over 150 clients in our children’s therapy center. As our name suggests, we have a spectrum of solutions for our folks.”
Last year, $75,000 was raised and that remains the same goal this year.
Currently, there is a cap at 50 teams total, 25 for each scramble time and spots are still available.
All proceeds go towards client programming.
This year, there will be prizes for the first-third place finishers as well as hole-in-one prizes.
The A.M. flight will kick off at 8:30 a.m. and the P.M. flight will commence at 1:30 p.m.
The event will include live music, beer and food that will be provided.
“It’s out at Ranchland Hills golf course club,” Paulson said. “We have a scramble and two tee times with a.m. and p.m. we have lots of prizes. Everyone who participates gets free food, free beer, free live entertainment. We’ll have a modified AR-15 that they can shoot a golf ball out of.”
Registration is open and can be done at https://www.spectrumofsolutions.org/events-information/.
“It’s a great day to take off from work, hang out with co-workers or friends and golf for a great cause,” Paulson said. “It’s not high stress. It’s just going out there and having fun. it’s a good day to get out and golf for a great cause.”
