LUBBOCK The Permian girls basketball team suffered a 76-22 loss against Lubbock-Cooper Wednesday in the 62nd annual Caprock Classic Tournament.
Lubbock-Cooper got out to a quick start against the Lady Panthers, building up a 19-7 lead to close out the first quarter.
Permian (3-12, 1-2 District 2-6A) couldn’t get much going offensively before the halftime break, scoring three points in the second quarter.
Majik Esquivel scored eight points in the second half to lead Lubbock-Cooper to the win, helping her team outscore the Lady Panthers 32-12 through the third and fourth quarters.
Sara Chavez led Permian with seven points scored in the contest, followed closely by Jamie Redic who scored four.
