LAWTON, OK. Daeshon Francis scored 21 points and hauled down 13 rebounds and the UTPB men’s basketball team claimed a 73-66 road win over Cameron on Saturday.
No. 13 UTPB led by 11 at the halftime break, and staved off the Aggies down the stretch. Francis nearly completed his double-double in the first half alone, pulling down 10 rebounds and scoring nine points in the first 20 minutes.
James McPherson added another 15 points for UTPB, while dual big men Josh Morris and Zeldric King scored 13 and 12, respectively, down low.
Sammy Allen pulled down 12 rebounds as the Falcons outrebounded the Aggies with 47 boards to 27.
That effort in rebounding helped make up for UTPB’s 22 turnovers. With those giveaways, UTPB mustered 14 fewer shots from the floor than Cameron, but the Falcons played well in other areas and shot well enough to win. Cameron hit 24 of 64 shots from the floor, while UTPB hit 25 of 50.
