COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: UTPB defeats Sul Ross State to begin home tournament

The UTPB volleyball team began its home tournament with a 3-1 win against Sul Ross State Thursday at Falcon Dome.

Playing on the first day of the Dr. Steve Aicinena “Iceman” Invitational, the Falcons moved to 3-2, winning by scores of 25-13, 23-25, 25-12, 25-17.

UTPB will be back on the court against Southeastern Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. Friday at Falcon Dome.

The Falcons will finish up the tournament at 2:30 p.m. Saturday against New Mexico Highlands University.

UTPB’s Cassandra Rother led the team in kills with 12 while Logan Terrazas had four blocks and Jenna Gray had 23 assists.

Gabby Gregorski had 29 digs for the Falcons.

Sul Ross State (0-1) was led in kills by Natalie Hernandez and Cassandra Espinoza with five each.

Eliana Mata had 15 assists while Tatyana Colon had 17 digs.
