Recent UTPB graduate Abby Hernandez was named a nominee for the 2021 NCAA Woman of the Year Friday as the organization released the full list of nominees.
The award recognizes graduating female athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and have stood out both on and off the field.
Hernandez, a softball player for the Falcons, earned recognition after donating a kidney to her brother last year and was able to recover and play during the 2021 season.
The Lone Star Conference will select two nominees for further consideration and the award will be given later this fall.
