FALCONS HAVE A CHANCE
The UTPB women’s and men’s basketball teams close out the 2022-23 regular season against Angelo State University on Thursday at the Junell Center.
The women’s game is set to start at 5:15 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
UTPB’s women’s team (13-14 overall, 10-11 Lone Star Conference) is tied for seventh with Cameron University and St. Edward’s.
The top eight teams will be invited to the season-ending Lone Star Conference Tournament.
The Falcons’ men’s team (13-17, 7-14) has been eliminated from postseason contention.
FALCON PARKED ATOP LEADERBOARD
SAN ANTONIO UTPB’s Sangha Park finished at 6-under par to capture the medalist honors at the Rattler Invitational Tuesday at the Dominion Country Club.
Park, a junior transfer from Odessa College, carded rounds of 2-under 7o and 4-under 68 to help the Falcons to a fifth-place finish as a team.
Teammates Sebastian Bengtsson and Thonsaeng Nunya each finished at 11-over par.
UTPB’s next competition will be the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff, March 9-11, in Tampa., Fla.
GETTING BACK TO WORK
After a one-day delay because of the gusty winds that blew through the Permian Basin on Wednesday, the UTPB softball team will return to the diamond to face Angelo State University in Lone Star Conference play.
First pitch for the doubleheader is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at UTPB Field.
The Rambelles earned a 10-3 victory in the series opener Tuesday at UTPB Field.
The Falcons (3-9 overall, 0-4 conference) scored two runs in the first inning, but Angelo State answered with one run in the second inning, two in the fourth, four in the sixth and three in the seventh.
