The UTPB softball team opened its home schedule with a doubleheader sweep, defeating The University of the Southwest, 4-2 and 5-0, Tuesday at UTPB Field.
In Game 1, Ashlynn Bradley and Melayna Lopez each drove in two runs, with Sydney Bishop pacing the offense with three hits.
Becky Berth went the distance, surrendering one hit and striking out nine, for the victory.
Valerie Gonzales had three hits and one run scored in the second game for the Falcons (2-4), with Bradley adding two more RBIs to her early-season total.
