Another UTPB coach has left as softball head coach Samantha Mendez has taken over the same position at Illinois College.
The announcement was made Monday on the Illinois College athletics website.
Mendez leaves Odessa after two seasons as the head coach of the Falcons.
She is the second UTPB head coach to leave this summer since former athletic director Todd Dooley announced his departure on May 28.
UTPB baseball coach Gabe Grinder also recently left to take over at Southeastern University.
During Mendez’s two seasons, the Falcons went 8-42 in 2023 and 7-44 this past spring.
Illinois College, which plays at the NCAA Division III level in the Midwest Conference, is coming off a 20-22 season.
