EL PASO Aydenne Brown and Fadwa Ben Karim played a big role in the Odessa College softball team’s sweep of El Paso Community College Friday in El Paso.
Brown pitched a perfect game in the opening contest to lead the Lady Wranglers to a 21-0 win, while Ben Karim pitched a no-hitter in an 11-0 Game 2 victory in Western Junior College Athletic Conference play.
Odessa College recorded 20 hits through five innings played in the first game, jumping out to a 10-0 lead through three innings.
They brought in 11 more runs in the fourth and fifth innings before the contest was settled.
Brown allowed no hits, runs or walks and struck out nine batters.
The second contest also ended in five innings, with the Lady Wranglers building up a 6-0 lead in three innings.
Four runs scored in the top of the fourth gave them a double-digit advantage, closing out the game with a sacrifice fly from Kawehi Ili that brought in Grace Coleman.
Ben Karim was also close to a perfect game, but walked one batter while allowing no hits or runs.
She struck out five in the second contest.
Odessa College (31-3 overall, 5-1 conference) closes out its series against El Paso Community College with a doubleheader starting at noon Saturday in El Paso.
