COLLEGE FOOTBALL: UTPB ranked No. 21 in AFCA Division II Coaches’ preseason poll

The UTPB football team will enter the season ranked after being placed at No. 21 in the American Football Coaches Association Division II Preseason Coaches’ Poll which was released Monday.

The Falcons ended at No. 18 in the final poll last year, being ranked as high as No. 12 at the end of the regular season.

UTPB is one of three Lone Star Conference teams to be ranked in the top-25 preseason poll including Central Washington at No. 8 and Angelo State at No. 24.

The Falcons are the defending Lone Star Conference champions, winning last year’s title for the first time in program history.

UTPB will begin its season at 6 p.m. Aug. 31 against Western New Mexico at Ratliff Stadium.

Defending national champion Harding University was ranked No. 1 in the preseason poll.
