COLLEGE FOOTBALL: UTPB picked third in LSC preseason poll

MCKINNEY The UTPB football team was picked to finish third in this year’s Lone Star Conference standings.

The preseason poll was announced on Thursday at the LSC Media Day at McKinney ISD Stadium’s Community Event Center.

The Falcons are the defending conference champions after going 10-2 overall, 8-0 in conference last year.

UTPB’s season ended with a 10-3 loss to Bemidji State in the first round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

Central Washington was picked to win the LSC this year, collecting 20 of the 30 first-place votes.

The Wildcats went 9-4, 7-1 last year but made it to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals.

Angelo State was picked to finish second after collecting six first-place votes.

UTPB received four first-place votes.

The Falcons will begin the 2024 season at 6 p.m. Aug. 31 at Ratliff Stadium.

UTPB has five home games this year during the regular season, four of which will take place at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland.
