COLLEGE FOOTBALL: UTPB falls to Angelo State at home

MIDLAND The UTPB football team’s playoff and Lone Star Conference championship hopes took a massive hit in the form of a 36-7 loss to Angelo State Saturday at Astound Broadband Stadium.

Conference leaders Angelo State (which improved to 3-2 overall, 3-0 in the LSC) built a 29-0 lead in the fourth quarter and UTPB couldn’t get much going.

The Falcons fell to 3-3, 2-2.

A five-yard touchdown on a fumble recover by Kenton Allen gave the Rams a 7-0 lead in the second quarter and things wouldn’t get much easier for the defending LSC champions.

It was 22-0 after Braeden Fuller scored on an 86-yard run with 12:07 left in the third.

UTPB’s only score came on a 38-yard pass to Ben Patterson from Issac Mooring with 5:45 left in the game.

The schedule won’t get any easier for the Falcons when they face Central Washington at 8 p.m. Oct. 12 in Ellensburg, Wash.
