ELLENSBURG, WASH. The UTPB football team pulled off a 14-13 upset against No. 9 Central Washington Saturday on the road.
Coming off a 36-7 loss to Angelo State last week, the Falcons got the response they needed as the defense held the Wildcats to only 13 points.
UTPB moved to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in Lone Star Conference play.
UTPB scored on a 2-yard touchdown run by quarterback Issac Mooring with 11:42 left in the fourth quarter and Angel Diaz’s extra-point gave the Falcons the lead.
Mooring went 12-of-24 for 107 yards passing and one interception while rushing for 63 yards on 16 carries.
Deon Cook had five receptions for 41 yards.
Central Washington fell to 4-2, 3-1.
UTPB will next face Western Oregon at 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at Astound Broadband Stadium in Midland.
