The Buffaloes were dealt a 45-3 blowout loss to No. 14 Central Washington last week at home. … After finally playing an NCAA Division II opponent, Western Oregon cracked the win column with a 39-17 victory against Sul Ross State. The Wolves will also be playing their home opener this weekend.

Sul Ross State at Texas A&M-Kingsville

>> Notes: Sul Ross State is still searching for its first Lone Star Conference win. It won’t be easy this week. The Lobos trailed 32-3 at one point against a not-so-strong Western Oregon team. … After defeating UTPB last week, the Javelinas might be a conference contender this season. Texas A&M-Kingsville will look to flex its muscles this Saturday against a weak opponent.

Western New Mexico at Central Washington

>> Notes: After two weeks of scoring 36 or more points, Western New Mexico’s offense was held to a shutout against Angelo State. The Mustangs get an even tougher test this week on the road. … Central Washington looks every bit like a conference contender after putting up 464 yards of total offense last week against West Texas A&M.
