Permian High graduate and Tulane outfielder Teo Banks was picked in the 18th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday.
Banks, who graduated from Permian in 2021, was selected 530th overall.
As a junior, Banks led the team with 19 doubles while hitting .265 with 51 runs, 62 hits, two triples, 14 home runs, 51 RBIs, 127 total bases, a .543 slugging percentage, 22 walks and seven stolen bases this past spring.
He was named to the AAC All-Tournament team this season.
Banks is the fifth Tulane player ever selected by the Nationals and the Montreal Expos.
He was also Tulane’s 18th MLB draft choice since the 2019 season.
Banks helped the Green Wave to a 36-26 showing during the 2024 season which included the team’s second straight AAC Championship.
The team earned a spot in the postseason to the NCAA Regionals for the second consecutive year.
