The UTPB baseball team jumped out to an early lead before pulling off a ninth-inning rally for a 10-9 victory against St. Edward’s Friday at Roden Field.
The Falcons (13-23 overall, 10-21 Lone Star Conference) led 6-3 entering the ninth inning before the Hilltoppers (13-20, 12-18) charged back with a six-run inning to take the lead.
The Falcons had an answer in the bottom half of the inning with four runs.
The game-winning run came on a throwing error by St. Edward’s after UTPB’s Cole Dickie reached base safely on a fielder’s choice.
It was the first game of a doubleheader with the second game getting underway later in the afternoon. The Falcons fell 13-5 in that contest. The teams wrap up the series with a game at 1 p.m. Saturday.
