The Christian Calendar has a “built in” time of renewal in its lectionary. Lent, beginning the week of Ash Wednesday and going through Easter is traditionally a time of repentance – renewal – and revival.
Since it climaxes with Resurrection Sunday, it is so very appropriate to be designated as a time of renewal.
However you may celebrate the time, make this year a time of contemplation, worship, and prayer of rededicating your own life to functioning as a part of the body of Christ.
Renew your covenant with God, reexamine your gifts and calling and ask yourself what you can do to help ease the chaos of the world and the suffering that so many are experiencing due to the last two years of pandemic and world unrest. In courage, ask God to use you as an agent of comfort and help to the needy world and specifically to the body of Christ.
Pray that God will make this a year that “counts” in your own spiritual growth and to the glory of God – Amen.
