One of the main reasons that people seek Physical Therapy services is to relieve neck, back and/or extremity (knee, leg, shoulder, arm) pain. Many people suffer from chronic pain due to an injury or simply aging. Depending on the cause and nature of the pain, PT may be an alternative to surgery. In fact, most insurers are now requiring that PT is attempted before they will approve surgery.
One method of treatment that is utilized for treatment of back, neck, and extremity pain is the McKenzie Method. This is a specialized treatment certification for Physical Therapists backed by years of research, which can provide amazing relief from pain in most cases. It is non-invasive and sometimes provides relief in as little as two or three visits. Patients can learn specific exercises to target their pain and by continuing the recommended routine after therapy, they can maintain their own pain relief. The McKenzie Method of treatment gives patients control of their pain and empowers them to get back to the life they love.
Currently, Medical Center Hospital has 3 PT’s who are certified in this method. If you are need of this service or any of our physical therapy services, please call us at 432-640-1253. A physician’s referral is required.
