The Black Cultural Council of Odessa hosted a Juneteenth gospel celebration at the Blackshear Elementary auditorium Sunday afternoon. Rev. Eddie L. Jenkins of the Good Street Baptist Church in Dallas led the celebration.
Jenkins came to Odessa because JoAnn Davenport Littleton’s pastor reached out to see if he was available this weekend.
“I leaped at the opportunity because I love the movement, I love what this stands for,” Jenkins said. “I wanted to be a part of it.”
