Cotton Flat bridge set for demolition

The Texas Department of Transportation issued a press release on Wednesday that detailed the Cotton Flat bridge is scheduled for demolition.

Motorists traveling North and South along the Garfield and Cotton Flat corridor have experienced detours at the Interstate 20 bridge since Nov. 28. These detours will change again on Dec. 16 as demolition begins on the Cotton Flat bridge at I-20.

Dec. 16 main lane traffic will be diverted at 7 p.m. to the frontage roads.

On Dec. 17, the main lanes will reopen at 7 a.m. as the construction team prepares to close the service roads at the demolition site at 7 p.m. Dec. 17.

Due to one way traffic configuration, the service road closure will mean limited circulation and access downstream of the demolition site. Motorists can exit this area turning right on the one-way service roads as usual. This service road interruption will remain in place through Dec. 18.
