The Young Professionals of Odessa, a program of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce, announced in a Wednesday press release the inception of the Permian Basin Leadership Symposium scheduled for Friday, August 25, 2023, hosted at the Odessa Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. This inaugural leadership conference marks a milestone in the history of this organization during their 11th year of operating within the Odessa community.
The Young Professionals of Odessa organization is a 501(c)6 non-profit organization that is a program of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce. Organized in 2012, this development program of young community members aims to support the 21-40 years of age demographic in their professional journey by creating business opportunities, supporting community involvement, providing leadership education, and promoting an overall investment in Odessa’s future leaders. Such endeavors include an annual contracting of a Quality of Life survey conducted of local registered voters that is then presented to community leaders and interested entities.
Hosting a leadership conference has been on the agenda for this organization in recent years, and is finally coming to life this fall. The groundwork has carefully been laid by early members in the organization, and now history is being made in the Permian Basin. Featuring Bruce Waller, author of “Life in the Leadership Lane: Moving Leaders to Inspire and Change the Workplace,” and Vice President of Frisco Economic Development Corporation, Gloria Salinas as keynote speakers. Gloria Salinas could be better remembered for her time serving the Odessa community as the Director of Downtown Odessa before transitioning to the DFW metroplex. Breakout session topics slated for this year include entrepreneurship, leadership development, community involvement, mental health, diversity, quality of place, and futurism.
