Woman accused of endangering three children

A 28-year-old Odessa woman was arrested Thursday after an officer found her three children home alone.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, an officer was asked to look into a U-Haul truck that hadn’t been returned on time. When he went to the Alameda Avenue home of the renter, he found the three children, ages 3, 5 and 10 alone in a house that was cluttered with tools and construction items, including uncharged, stripped electrical wire, the report stated.

The man who rented the U-Haul stated he was in Fort Stockton working. When his wife, Heather Stuart, got home, she admitted she’d been at work nine miles away, the report stated.

Stuart was arrested on suspicion of three counts of abandoning or endangering a child, a state jail felony, punishable by six months to two years in prison.
