Several area agencies will receive emergency funding from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, which was tasked by Gov. Greg Abbott with providing funds that includes the Emergency Rental Assistance funds provided by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
In the Permian Basin, the following have been approved for funding so far:
>> Goodwill (Andrews) – $139,000
>> Jesus House (Odessa) – $150,000
>> Salvation Army (Odessa) – $200,000
>> Salvation Army (Midland) – $200,000
A letter on the funding notes: “Texas is committed to bringing stability to the large population of those who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.”
