West Texas VA Health Care System will host a telephone Women Veterans Town Hall meeting at 6 p.m. Sept. 14.
Women Veterans are encouraged to join the meeting to hear updates about VA women’s health services and get general questions about women’s health care answered. Topics of discussion will include the new PACT Act that expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances, complementary and integrative medicine, and chronic pain. Women Veterans will receive a call to their phone number on record with the VA.
“It is essential that we take every opportunity to listen to and include women Veterans in all that we do—as we grow as a health care system,” Women Veterans Program Manager Amanda Pinkley said in a news release. “With women making up the fastest growing segment of the Veteran population, sessions like this are essential to our success, and their health and well-being.”
West Texas VA supports the health, welfare, and dignity of female Veterans and their families by ensuring equal access to timely, sensitive, and quality care. Women Veterans are a diverse group—professionals, students, mothers, retirees—of varying ages and racial, ethnic, and gender identities, and sexual orientation.
Approximately 1,900 women Veterans are enrolled and receive care at West Texas VA. The Women’s Health Program offers complete health care for women Veterans of all ages. Primary care providers specialize in women’s health. They work closely with specialists in gynecology, infertility, obstetrics, female urology, oncology, medicine, radiology, surgery, menopause treatment, ultrasounds, mammograms, and Pap and HPV tests.

West Texas VA provides Veterans with health care services at six locations serving west Texas and southeastern New Mexico. Facilities include the George H. O’Brien Jr. VA Medical Center in Big Spring and four community-based outpatient clinics in Abilene, Fort Stockton, San Angelo, and Odessa, Texas, and one in Hobbs, New Mexico.
