Teenager arrested on robbery charge

Odessa police arrested an 18-year-old local resident Monday after identifying him as the getaway driver in a convenience store robbery.

According to an Odessa Police Department report released Friday, a North John Ben Sheppard Stripes clerk called 911 around 2:40 a.m. Sunday to report he’d been robbed at gunpoint of more than $300.

When officers arrived, they watched video surveillance of the suspect leaving in a white 2016 Chrysler 300 and they were able to track the vehicle to the registered owner who told them his daughter had the car, the report stated.

The daughter told officers she’d left the car at a friend’s house so she and her friend could go to San Antonio, the report stated. She also said her brother, Christian Flynt, had asked her about the car.

When officers questioned Flynt, he admitted to driving his friend to and from a DK store on University and the Stripes store in order to rob both of them, but said he hadn’t wanted to, the report stated.

According to the report, Flynt said the friend got $97 from the first store and $303 from the second.

After the Stripes robbery, Flynt said he dropped his sister’s car off and he took his friend back home, the report stated.

Flynt was arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery and booked into the Ector County jail with a $150,000 surety bond.
