IDEA Public Schools in the Permian Basin, is now accepting applications for the 2025-26 school year at IDEA Yukon Academy and College Preparatory and IDEA Lopez Academy and College Preparatory.
IDEA Yukon Academy and College Preparatory first opened in 2021 and currently serves over 1,100 students. For the 2025 – 26 school year, the campus will serve students in grades K through 10th. The campus will grow to serve grades K-12 when fully scaled. IDEA Lopez Academy and College Preparatory will also open its doors for the first time in Odessa for the 2025-26 school year.
“Over the last 17 years, we are proud of IDEA’s successful legacy in having nearly 100 percent of seniors accepted to college,” Annette Macias, Executive Director for IDEA Public Schools in the Permian Basin, said in a news release. “We are excited to open another campus in Odessa and our dedicated staff is ready to support all students on their path to and through college.”
The tuition-free public-school focuses on personalized learning, core subjects, critical thinking and college preparedness. IDEA’s teachers partner with students and families every step of the way to ensure students are prepared for success in college and life.
The deadline to apply for the 2025-26 school year is Feb. 14, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Parents can submit an application here.
A random lottery will be held on February 15, 2025, to determine which students will fill spots available at each IDEA school. If randomly selected, you will be notified and invited to attend a “Welcome to IDEA” event where we celebrate your acceptance to IDEA and orient you to IDEA’s culture, curriculum and expectations.
Students who are not randomly selected to attend IDEA will be placed on a wait list, and the order of the wait list will be randomly determined. The applications of students on the wait list will remain on file for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year. If a spot becomes available, students will be selected from the wait list, and parents will be notified of their selection and informed of next steps.
