Stroke Survivors and Caregivers Conference set

MIDLAND The Permian Basin Area Health Education Center, housed at Midland College, has announced the 2023 Stroke Survivors & Caregivers Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 19 at the Conference Center at Texas Tech University Health Sciences, 801 W. Fourth St., Odessa. The event is free; however, seats can be reserved by going to the Eventbrite registration page.

Texas Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke Council along with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Odessa is partnering with Permian Basin AHEC to coordinate this conference which includes Tommye Austin, RN, as the keynote speaker and a presentation entitled “Barriers to Stroke Care in Rural Texas” by Sharon Franks-Meeks, RN. In addition, stroke survivors, stroke survivor caregivers and stroke care professionals will lead panel discussions. Permian Basin AHEC is providing a complimentary lunch for all participants. Continuing Education credit for healthcare professionals will also be provided at no charge.
