A 48-year-old man was arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety Friday after special agents said he arranged to meet an undercover agent he thought was a 15-year-old girl to have sex and showed up at the meeting location.
According to a DPS arrest affidavit, special agents were conducting an undercover sting operation when Oswaldo Torres Galan began talking to the undercover agent, who told him she was 15 about to turn 16.
Galan asked the “girl” if she’d like to hang out with him in his hotel room to cuddle and kiss and then informed her if they had sex he’d use a condom so she wouldn’t get pregnant, the report stated.
According to the report, Galan showed up at a predetermined location to meet the “girl” around 7:30 a.m. Friday.
Galan admitted he knew the “girl” was only 15 and they’d talked about meeting to have sex, the report stated.
Galan was arrested on suspicion of child grooming and online solicitation of a minor. He was released from the Ector County jail after posting surety bonds totaling $75,000.
