MIDLAND The Permian Basin Petroleum Museum has announced the grand opening of an independent STEAM Education Center. Designated for education programs and activities, the new Center allows it to offer more programs, create new events, and enhance learning for visitors of all ages.
The museum will celebrate the grand opening of the STEAM Education Center during its Out of this World Family Science Night at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 31. This free event will feature interactive science experiments and activities about space for children and their families to enjoy. Family Science Nights are sponsored by Chevron.
A news release expressed thanks to major donors the Scharbauer Foundation, FMH Foundation, Mabee Foundation, Abell-Hanger Foundation, Wayne & JoAnn Moore Charitable Fund, Concho Resources, Inc., Pioneer Natural Resources, and many others who contributed to the $6 million capital campaign. These donors provided the opportunity for the museum to further develop children’s love for science and provide an engaging community learning environment that will foster the next generation of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) professionals, the release said.
