Roommate accused of baseball attack

A 67-year-old Odessa man was arrested Friday morning after his roommate told police he hit him in the head with a wooden baseball bat.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, the roommate, 66, told officers he came home shortly after 7 a.m. and knocked on the door of the Patterson Avenue home he shares with Curtis Johnson and Johnson told him to leave.

The man said Johnson quickly came back to the door with the bat and hit him in the left side of his head, the report stated. Officers saw a large knot on the man’s head above and behind his ear.

Johnson told officers he pushed his roommate off the porch, the report stated.

Johnson was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon/family violence. His bond was set at $25,000.
